About PONCHO KINGZ

 Poncho Kingz is a Band from Mexico City that plays what they  label “Hip-Trop” music. They call it that because it blends Tropical Salsa-like Latin Rhythms with Funk, Rock and Rap.  Their raps  are in “very correct spanglish” , and in them you’ll hear the tic-toc of Mexico, with it’s idiocincracies, it’s capitol, and largely it’s people’s favorite American dubbed-into-spanish  TV, but with a unique hiptroponic twist.

The Band is made up of six members, all of which write and arrange the songs. Picotropico is on Keyboards and Raps and Griffz Trapazo on lead and rhythm Guitar and Raps. They are the backbone and founding members of the Band and are responsible for it’s “Hip-Trop” concept, as well as for laying down the foundation for what would be the major sources of inspiration for their words and music:  Movies, Trivia, Comic Strips, TV shows and especially “Carrilla”, which roughly translated means “to make fun of”, not only of the world, but of themselves, which makes for the music’s brute energy and sense of humor. There is also Pazcual on Drums since 1997. Leonora, the only female, sings and plays Conga Drums (at the same time),  Bongos, Cajon and additional percussion. Both of them joined the band in 1999. Kique plays Timbales, raps and sings, and along with Aleksandar Panich (Sasha), who plays the bass, raps and sings, does what needs to be done. Everyone sings back-up vocals. Most of the songs consist of rapped verses with melodic "hooks" and extended instrumental parts. Also, when the circumstances allow, they bring a whole Horn Section, DJs, MCs and other very entertaining guest artists and performers.
